DayPlay ("DayPlay", "we", "us", or "our"), operated by DayPlay LLC ("Company"), is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how it is shared, and what rights you have regarding your personal data when using the DayPlay mobile applications and services (the "Service").

1. Information We Collect

A. Information You Provide to Us

  • Account Information:When you create an account via third-party authentication (Sign in with Apple, Google Sign-In), we receive your email address, display name, and unique user identifier. With Apple Sign in, you may choose to use Apple's Private Relay email.
  • Profile Information: User avatar, bio, and display preferences.
  • User-Generated Content (UGC): Recommendations, local gem submissions, tips, photos, and ratings you voluntarily upload.
  • Content Reports & Support Requests: Information submitted when reporting objectionable content or contacting support.
  • Search Queries: Text you type into Discover search when you choose to search.

B. Information Collected Automatically

  • Location Data (When In Use): With your explicit permission, we collect coarse and/or precise geolocation data while the app is active in order to show nearby events, venues, and distance calculations. We do not track your background location when the app is closed.
  • Device & Usage Data: Operating system version, device model, app performance metrics, search queries, and in-app interactions.
  • Photos & Camera:With your permission, the app accesses your device's camera or photo library solely when you choose to attach photos to recommendations, gem submissions, or your profile.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

  1. Core Service Delivery: Providing location-based event feeds (Live Now, Happening Today, Weekend Events), search results, and map views.
  2. AI & Semantic Search: With your consent on first use of text search, translating discovery queries into relevant activity recommendations using OpenAI and related ranking infrastructure. You may decline and continue browsing feeds and the map without text search.
  3. Personalization & Bookmarking: Synchronizing your saved listings, custom folders, and upvotes across devices when signed in; offline Save/Going snapshots may remain on your device.
  4. Community & Moderation: Displaying community recommendations and enforcing zero-tolerance policies against harmful or abusive content, including Report and Block tools for signed-in users.
  5. Security & Troubleshooting: Preventing fraud, authenticating user sessions, and monitoring backend system performance.

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal data or location history. We only share information in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service Providers & Cloud Infrastructure:Trusted infrastructure providers (AWS, Cloudflare R2, and AI inference APIs such as OpenAI for search query understanding) bound by data protection obligations. When you use AI-backed search, your search text and city name (for example "San Francisco") may be sent to OpenAI. Precise GPS coordinates are used on Dayplay servers to rank nearby results and are not sent to OpenAI.
  • Authentication Providers: Apple and Google process Sign-In as described in their respective privacy policies.
  • Public Community Features:Content you explicitly post as a public recommendation (e.g., Locals' Favorites) is visible to other DayPlay users under your chosen display name and avatar.
  • Legal Requirements: If required by law, subpoena, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of DayPlay, our users, or the public.

We do not operate an advertising offer wall, and we do not use Facebook or X (Twitter) login in the current Service.

4. Data Retention & Account Deletion

  • Data Retention: We retain personal information only as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide the Service.
  • In-App Account Deletion: You have the right to delete your account and associated server data at any time.
    • To delete your account, open the DayPlay app → Profile → Delete Account (requires sign-in).
    • Upon successful deletion, your account credentials, profile records, saved items, and personal submissions are permanently deleted from our primary databases within 30 days. Device-local Save/Going data may remain until you clear app data or uninstall.

5. Security of Your Data

We employ industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your personal data, including TLS encryption in transit, encrypted storage at rest, and role-based access controls.

6. Your Rights & Choices (GDPR / CCPA / State Privacy)

Depending on your jurisdiction, you have the right to:

  • Access, update, or correct your personal data.
  • Request deletion of your personal data.
  • Restrict or opt out of certain data processing.
  • Withdraw location or photo permissions at any time via your device's system settings.
  • Decline AI-backed search consent and continue using browse and map features.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will immediately delete it.

8. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy at https://www.dayplay.io/privacyand updating the "Last updated" date at the top.
